Matt Finucane returns with his new single ‘Dead Artform’ out on the 2nd of October from his forthcoming album Ruination out digitally on the 30th of October with a physical release to follow on Eyeless Records.

The visceral lead single ‘Dead Artform’ is an urgent dissection of the musical art form dripping in surreal imagery, knowing and pitch-black irony as Finucane extols “this is a dead artform/as dead as me”, as he marches deeper into a shadowy dystopia and AI techbros trying to asset strip the world

‘Dead Artform’ shakes your bones with squalling arcs of feedback, howling angular guitar lines laid thick with a reverberated tone make for a moorish and delectable sound throbbing with a bass line that bristles with intensity and purpose. Underscored by Barney Guy's propulsive rhythms, that fuel the music's forward momentum recalling Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) at his most elastic.

Based in Brighton, Matt Finucane’s career spans well over two decades in the dark underbelly of music. Finucane has released a string of vital albums and EPs over the last twenty years and more. A singular artist who has been compared to David Bowie, Mark E Smith and Lou Reed. He crafts a raw and introspective musical world – an atmospheric, angular and brooding sonic assault on the senses that burrows into his subconscious, excavating themes of alienation, introspection, and the darker corners of human experience.
His most recent release was the 2024 EP Bang Bang Exorcism on Eyeless Records - a lovely brick-red cassette of the finest forever chemicals. His upcoming album, Ruination (also on Eyeless), takes the angular, feedback-saturated energy one step weirder. He says he “doesn't want to be your friend. He doesn't care about smashing that Like button. He just wants to show you the power of unholy noise.”
